Weekly letter
The Gavel Report
A weekly letter for auctioneers: the sales worth your time, the objects people will remember, and how those lots were photographed and described.
Written for people who call auctions and write catalogs. The email is how an issue arrives. The archive below is where it stays.

What an issue contains
01
The sale
Which house, which day, and what kind of auction. Enough to know whether the sale is in your lane.
02
The lot
One object worth a closer look, in the words the catalog actually used. A price appears only when it is a real result from that sale.
03
How it was photographed
The frame of the whole object, the frame of the mark, the frame of the damage, and whether anything in the shot gives scale.
04
How it was described
Where the title puts its weight, how specific the condition is, and whether each claim has a photo behind it.
Issue archive
Every issue is published here, on meetauctus.com. The mailing list sends the letter. It does not host the archive.
No issues of The Gavel Report have been published yet. The first one will be filed here when it goes out.
Format samples
Draft placeholders, published so the archive has a shape. They are not issues, and they do not report real auctions or prices.
- Draft placeholderThe shape of an issueDraft placeholder. A blank outline of the sections a real issue will use. No auction is named and no result is reported.
- Draft placeholderBefore the first issueDraft placeholder. What this letter will cover once a real issue exists, and what it will refuse to invent.
